Haven - The Quiet Common Room

Pale fingers strummed along quietly to softly hummed melodies, disjointed notes and absentminded chords floated around the room and petered off into nothingness. The occasional pen scribble every now and again was heard when the music stopped, and the odd mutter of “yes that sounded pretty good” or “no you can’t rhyme ‘public’ and ‘subject’ that’s just… no unless…” but aside from that the room remained for the most part quiet. Ghost looked up from this writing and relaxed his grip around the neck of his guitar. He brushed his snowy white bangs out of his face and looked around the room with a frown. Sure, he appreciated quiet, a good dose of quiet was always a nice accompaniment to song writing, but there was something so pressing about the emptiness of the common room that made him want to scream. He wondered in the back reaches of his mind where it was exactly that everyone had wandered off to. Was it a mission he hadn’t been informed of? No, no that wouldn’t make sense. Even if he hadn’t been informed of a mission, something unlikely to be sure, there was such a slim chance that absolutely everybody that had ever existed within Haven would have to be gone. That wouldn’t make sense. Was it n invasion he hadn’t heard? An attack? Well that was almost more impossible than the first option, the silence was so deafening he was sure to have heard a pin drop three rooms over. “Maybe they’re eating?” he said aloud to himself, if only to break the silence. “Or… maybe they’ve started a game of poker in one of the other rooms…” he hesitated “a very big game of mute poker.” He looked around the room again and sighed. “Fine. I guess I’ll just wait here… for… someone.” The silence engulfed the room once more as Ghost realized talking to himself would do nothing to help his reputation. Not that anyone was around to hear it. So he sat in the dull silence, not even touching the strings of his guitar. And he sat. Waiting. Alone.
